Update

Hey guys! I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving (or normal day if you don't celebrate Thanksgiving). I enjoyed mine and I enjoyed telling you my mis-adventure that turned into pretty much an epic failure. Other than that I found a book hiding in the deep dark corner of my room. ( OK that was a bit of a lie. It was on my book self in the corner of my room...) The only problem I have is it is a book mad up of short stories. So do I do one huge review on twenty-seven short stories or do I do it by section which means I will be doing four or five at a time, or do I do a review at the end of each short story? This is something I hope to have figured out by Monday night. I also hope to get to the library this week, my over grown list of books has gotten worst and I need to start trimming it down. But really it is more of an 'Does the library have it on the shelves or do I have to put a hold on it?' This has become an increasingly annoying problem because I don't have time to get to the library to pick up my holds so if it isn't in our local library I have been putting of reading it. This is a terrible reason to not read what I want to read but I can't spend hours looking for the other libraries. I have been looking forward to reading many books. I have recently learned the Kristen Simmons is going to release another book in the Article 5 series. I was so excited to hear this! It is a shame I have to wait until February to read it! I am also excited about the next book in the Mortal Instruments series! I just hope that Cassandra Clare doesn't do something stupid and ruin the whole rest of the series for me. I have already ruined the end of House of Hades for my self by looking up Rick Riordan on amazon and finding out that there is another book coming our after this one! (I sometimes hate my habits of looking up some of my favorite authors on amazon) And I have been so excited about reading Royal Ranger by John Flanagan. Even thought I thought the ending to the last book was pretty good, I don't think I was ready to give up another book character at the time. Now I feel that if the series ends it would be ok by me. I would be a bit up set but  in the end I would be fine. I must getting going, heading off to a marathon of Doctor Who! So.... Talk To You All Later! -Kaitlynn

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey guys! I know this is early but this is the only time I will be able to say this before I get super busy, and I just really want to tell you my mis-adventure! OK it isn't as long as I am making it seem but it is awfully funny to me and my friends. I know they will possibly never let me live it down too. So I hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving or just another normal day if you don't celebrate thanksgiving. And Enjoy my major nerd fail. -Kaitlynn

                                    Mis-adventure: The Sonic Screwdriver......

So after school one of my friends asked if I wanted to hold the Doctors Sonic Screwdriver. I said yes of course, who wouldn't want to! So she hands me the sonic, of course she knows I have only seen about 3 and a half seasons of Doctor Who. I looked at it going I don't remember this one, so like any one would do.... I pressed the button. I didn't know I had it facing the wrong way so when it extended toward me instead of the way I thought it would, I freaked out. By now my friend was truly paying attention and we both just burst in to a fit of laughter. I gave it back and said "You should take this before I accidentally kill myself." My friend said that "You can't kill yourself with a sonic! Unless you heat up your blood to the boiling point....." But pretty much at that point we were both just laughing at my nerd failing.

Toxic cities?

Hey guys! Sorry I sort of lied about having another book review the other day. I was going to look and got super distracted by one of my house members playing Super Mario Bro's on the Wii. I just had to beat them so I kind of forgot, lost track of time, and started to run late. So here is the post to make up for that small accidental lie. So.... ON TO THE  REVIEW!

                                          Reaper's legacy by Tim Lebbon

This is the second book in the Toxic City series. (if you didn't read the first books review click on Two for One under April) Our characters Jack, Lucy-Anne, Sparky, and Jenna are still in the toxic city of London. Lucy-Anne is traveling North to find her brother with a boy named Rook. And the rest of them are trying to find Camp H. Both run in to new people who have been effected by Evolve. (The "virus" that had been released in London two years earlier.) Both groups learn that there is more to London than meets the eye. Will Jack, Sparky, and Jenna survive in this new London? Will Jenna and Rook find Jenna's brother? OR will they all die trying? Find out in this Action/Mystery/Adventure!

I rate this a 5/5 stars. I know that my review probably didn't do this book any justice but take my word.... This book is really good. You would have to read the first book to under stand this one but other than that I love the story. I sometimes got so into it the when people started talking to me it took me twenty minutes to realize they were talking to me!(OK, I must admit I am a bit sick but that had very little to do with that.)

I hope you enjoyed my review! Even though I thought I did a terrible job.... I have sort of bad news. I didn't get to the library before they closed for the Thanksgiving weekend. SO I have nothing to read and thus have nothing to review! For me it is more of a lack of something to fill my spare time. That wont be to much of a problem because I will be making Christmas cookies for soldiers over seas, going to my friend's for a Doctor Who marathon (or as much of one as we can fit in), and unfortunately homework. But for now I have to get going so I can do some thing interesting. So..... Talk To You All Later! -Kaitlynn

Books, Books, and more BOOKS!

I have been waiting so long for some of these to come out or have just learned about them and really want to read them. Enjoy, Kaitlynn.......

House of Hades by Rick Riordan

The Dead in Their Vaulted Arches by Alan Bradley

A Letter of Mary by Laurie R. King

Doctor Who: The Stone Rose by Jacqueline Rayner

The Shadowhunters Codex by Cassandra Clare & Joshua Lewis

From the.... Bones?

Hey guys! I have decided (since I have time and feel bad about not posting regularly) to review Speaking From Among the Bones  by Alan Bradley. I  hope you guys enjoyed Girls Who Read as much as I did. Also to let you know I made a poll. It is awfully hard to read but if you highlight it you can see your options. It was inspired by a picture I found and it had both the Doctor and Sherlock. It said "The Doctor and Sherlock knock on your door. The Doctor asks you to be his companion. Sherlock asks you to be his blogger. Who do you choose?" I just couldn't decide for my self! So I made the poll and added in Shadowhunters so people who don't know who the Doctor is or  who Sherlock is, can have an option. (if you haven't heard of either of these guys by now you really live under a rock! Not to offend you but they are some of the most popular characters ever!) Before I go over board in how people live under a rock, when in reality I probably live under the biggest one... ON TO THE REVIEW!

Speaking From Among the Bones by Alan Bradley

Our favorite chemist/sleuth is back! In this story Flavia De Luce solves the mystery of the death of their missing organist. Who just so happens to be found dead in the tomb of St. Tancred, who was the main reason for them going into the tomb. Suddenly it seems like every one in Bishop Lacey is on solving this mystery. Even detectives from out of town show up! While trying to solve this mystery she learns many shocking thing about both her house and family. Will Flavia be able to solve the murder or will some one get to it before her? Find out in this scientific/mystery!

I rate this a 5/5 stars. Flavia is an easy character to fall in love with, especially when she say stuff like "When I'm blue, I think of Cyanide. Because it is the same shade of blue that I feel." Other than that it is just beautifully written. I am glad that a friend from years ago gave me the first book as a going away present. Also I like that Flavia uses science to explain the mystery. Instead of it being all "LOOK I FOUND A CLUE!" it is more of "Hey, I found this strange substance! Lets go put in a test tube and see what happens when I dump chemicals on it!" By having the book this way (even thought it does make it seem longer) it helps the reader understand what is going on and what those "strange substances" are, instead of just flat out saying it.

I hope you guys enjoyed my review! I am try this out on my new laptop! YAY! It seems to work perfectly fine, which is great! Other than that... Happy 50th anniversary of DOCTOR WHO! Just wanted to mention it, I'm not going to do any thing special because I need to start thinking about my 1st anniversary of my blog! I'm not sure what I am going to do yet. But I do have a fun mis-adventure for Thanksgiving. That makes up for me not doing one for Halloween because of the cute little kids in their cute costumes! I am more than happy to your guys suggestions on what I should do. I thought about a recording kind of thing but I don't have the stuff to do it and I am kind of trying to save some money for movies coming out soon and books. Then I thought of doing an interview with some one but.... I don't know any one! Ya, so I kind of don't know what I 'm going to do yet. I have two months to figure it out, but I'll probably wait till the last second and do some thing really stupid. Well, I need to move on and see if I have any thing else to review because I have the time to do one or two more. So for now... Talk To You All Later! -Kaitlynn

Girls Who Read...

Hey Guys! If any of you have been paying attention to the popular section of YouTube lately you would have noticed ( in addition to all things Doctor Who) a video called Girls Who Read. Of course my curiosity got the better of me and I kind of fell in love with this guys "speech" he gives. This gives me hope that their are guys out there that want brains and book lovers! -Kaitlynn

Girls Who Read

Hey, Mister Monday!

Hey, Guys! ( Still haven't found a better name to call you guys!) I have been super busy but I have finally found time to tell you about my latest read! YAY! But I will get to that in a minute, right now I am reading  Speaking From Among the Bones by Alan Bradley. I am on the fence about reviewing it for you guys because it is the fifth book in the series. They don't all connect but to kind of  get the rest of the books you have to read the first one. So ya, I may or may not, it kind of depends on my mood and how much time I have left over when I get it done. (which will be soon, I have about 160 pages left.) After that I am not sure what I am going to read next, my to read list has gotten longer and is almost a jungle of book titles listed on both my I-Pod and Sticky notes every where! It is a mess but I just need to find a place and start there. Now before I really bore you all I should.... MOVE ON TO THE REVIEW!

                                  Mister Monday by Garth Nix

Our story opens  with our main character Arthur Penhaligon and his first day at his new school. While in gym Arthur has an asthma attack, when on deaths door step, out of no where Mister Monday appears and gives him a key in the shape of a minute hand on the clock. After that his whole world is flipped up side down. He gets chased by crazy half dog - half human creatures, having people named after the times of the day chase him, and a trip to a crazy house that does and doesn't exist. Will Arthur survive this crazy trip or will he get caught and killed? Find out in this adventure packed action/fantasy book.

I thought this book was a 5/5 stars. I have been looking for this for several years. So to finally read it was a good for my over fried nerves. I thought that it had a good plot idea and had enough crazy creatures to make it constantly entertaining. My favorite would have to be these books that can rip you to shreds if you have even the slightest word on you. I guess they were my favorite because it bugs me when people write on them selves with pen/marker. Pretty much I thought this book was really good and I would love to read the rest of the series.

Sorry I have been out for so long. Trust me I don't enjoy not posting regularly but I just don't have the time. I stay up three to four nights a week doing homework and three days a week I volunteer some of my time to tutor some kids at one of our local schools. This also means that my five to six books done/reread a week it is now one book at least every two to three weeks. Also on top of that I have my English books I have to read and book club books that I am trying to get done at the same time. This all leads to my week ends and the fact that every thing that I wanted to get done on the week days have to happen in just two days. Other than that I found a cool video about a guy taking about what he likes in a girl. I will try to post it later or after this if I have time. I have to get going if I want a acceptable amount of sleep. So... Talk To You All Later! (which means next time I am not drowning in work!) -Kaitlynn

update........

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been on in a while. I have been so busy with homework, volunteer work, and watching Doctor Who! Ya, some one messed up our Netflix so we have a free month of streaming. I thought I'd try my hardest to watch as much of it as I can. I just finished season 2 but that isn't very important. I have been reading, but my time is very limited and I just can't get through what I want to read. (I should be doing my ridiculous amount of homework but I thought I would take my break and do a little update.) Right now I am trying to get through Mister Monday by Garth Nix. I also have been trying to read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley for a book club I have joined. I normally don't join those kinds of things but I thought I would try it out. Turns out it was a good idea because all the girls there have similar reading interests to me. The only down side is in my copy of Frankenstein there is a bunch of extra stuff that is cool to know but really annoying to sort through. So in truth I haven't finished the book because I can't tell where it starts! That's OK though, I tried and that is all that matters. I wanted to post for Halloween but well I got really busy and wanted to hand candy out to all the cute little kids! Truly they were cute! I also couldn't think of a good mis-adventure for you guys. I haven't really had any lately, I have been so busy that doing anything out side of homework and volunteering, isn't possible. I just wanted you guys to know that I am still around and trying to read books to review. I must get going though.... got tons of homework to get done and lots of books that need to be read. So much to do so little time. Well, Talk To You All Later! -Kaitlynn
