Update & Review

HEY every one! This has one busy week. I got three medals at Acadec weekend. Two bronze and one gold. The bronze were for Lang/lit and social science.  And the gold was for Super quiz. I would like to congratulate all the other kids who competed and thank the people who set up the program, weekend, and every thing. It was an amazing experience. Enough about that... ON TO THE BOOKS! I finally got to finnish The Friday Society and I was going to read The Demon Catchers of Milan But I was having troubles with it. Sorry for those waiting for that. I just couldn't get in to it. Other than that I have about three more books I getting out of the library. I am not going to tell you the titles because I just don't know if I am going to get to them all! Or if I like them at all! What I am really waiting for is Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. For now that's whats been up and why I haven't posted any thing for a while. Now on to the review!

The Friday Society by Adrienne Kress

This book starts off with us meeting Cora. A girl who used to live on the street. Now she works for a lord and does a lot of science. After we meet Cora, we meet  Nellie. She is a magicians assistant and has a pet parrot. Then last but not least we meet Michiko. She is a Japanese girl who ran away from home and now works with an combat instructors assistant.  All of them are getting ready to go this big party to either put on a performance or to hang around. Eventually they all get together to solve a multi path mystery. As the girls try to solve the mystery things will happen, the unexpected comes out of no where and maybe a chance at love? Follow our three hero's though the many twists and turns of this steampunk mystery and find out who is really behind it all.

I rate this book a 4/5 stars. It was a very good book. Some things threw me off. For example there are two chapters that could have been differently numbered. They where Chapter 10 1/2 and Chapter 10 3/4. It just really threw me off because I am so used to normal chapters. I think that some of the characters could have been brought out a bit more but other than that overall I thought it was a good book.

I am always looking for new books, music, and questions to answer. If you have any suggestions that you would love for me to hear just put it in the comments below. I really hope to here your guy's opinion and would love some tips or points on things I could do to improve the page. Also I would love for you all to just join in and give your input on the books I review or books I should review. Well I need to get going. I will TALK TO YOU ALL LATER! -kaitlynn

Article (Science)

For science class I found this really interesting science article. I thought that you guys would be interested in it. I found it really neat. This isn't the real article, this is just my review on what it was about. I will put a link to the real article at the bottom of the review. I encourage you read to the real one. It was very well written and was very informational.

Studying recent human evolution at the genetic level by Nicholas Wade

It is said the Asians may have a slightly different physical traits, the reason for this stems back about 35,000 years. One of the genes that cause this is EDAR, the stuff that provides instructions that make protein work together. Africans and Europeans carry a different version of the gene, A standard version. To test this gene and see if it was right the scientists used it on mice. To test this they found mice with similar strain of genes as Asians. After some time the mice grew up and the scientists found that they indeed had some of the traits the Asians had. But this all came with side effects, some had extra sweat glands, and another was that some had less breast tissue. Both are somewhat traits on Asians but not completely. One of the last traits would be their teeth, but the mice were not very help full at showing why Asians teeth are they way they are. The reason for this is because mice have different teeth than us making it rather difficult to see any similarities between both the mice and the Asians. All of this lead up to one question from Scientists what trait was the dominant figure for natural selection? Three different scientists argue different views on which trait was the dominant figure. A separate team says that it is all three traits and possibly more. To see if any of their views were right they decided to test a different gene on the mice.

Behemoth

I finally finished Behemoth! YAY! I finished it Friday but accidentally returned the book. So I am going to try to do this all by memory. Other than that I started The Friday Society and picked up another library book. So after The Friday Society  I will try to get  Demon Catchers of Milan done in an decent time. If I don't post for the next two weeks, I am very sorry. My schedule got very complicated very fast. So instead of having one week before Acadec weekend, I am stuck preparing for it and trying it keep up my good work at school. Sorry for those who check up often, there may not be much here for you in the up coming weeks. Now on to my review........

                                 Behemoth by Scott Westerfeld

We open up back where we left off in Leviathan. Alek and this Austrian crew are on board the Leviathan helping it stay aloft and trying to escape when the time is right. Also Mr. Sharp who is Aleks friend. Mr. Sharp works on the Leviathan, and also helps Dr. Darwin. She makes fabricated animals and plants like here father did. ( You know Charles Darwin) Our characters are on their way to Constantinople or Istanbul. They run into many problems along the way. They all learns some secrets and Some of the aid people in a revolt. But in the end people get closer and things get revealed. People fall in love and new beast are discovered. Will they make it out of their journey alive?

I rate this book a 5/5 stars! I found it brilliant, I would never have though of doing some thing like this. Especially based on WW I. I recommend reading both the books.

Sorry the review was short. I was trying not to give to much away and trying to give away the first book. But if you want to know more I would recommend reading both Leviathan and Behemoth by Scott Westerfeld. Well I hope you enjoyed my sort of review of Behemoth. If you have any book you would love for me to read post them in the comments below and I will try to get to them. Along with new music, I would love to hear your guys opinion on what I should listen to. Well I should get going, Talk To You All Later! - Kaitlynn

QUESTION 1!

Hello Every One! I am going to start up a new thing, every time I get a chance I am going to answer one question from you. As in my fans! At least I hope you are all! For now I am going to answer a question when ever I get the chance. It may not be very often seeing as most of my time is spent on home work or other things that are just as important.  So post your questions often in hopes of being the lucky one who's question gets picked.

Before I start I must lay down some ground rules.

 1. No swearing. Please this is a public place every one can see you and I really don't want to kick you out.

2. Please be reasonable with your questions! I really don't want to answer questions that are really uncomfortable for me.

3. Don't spam your question. I don't want to spend twenty minutes reading the same comment over and over again from the same person. Also if you can save me the effort, IF there is a question you want to ask but some one has asked it... Just put the name of the person who posted it and I will look at their comment.

4. Have fun. This is the last rule because really I just want every one to be happy, laugh, and do what ever they do when they are happy.

My first question or set of questions comes from my dear friend DJ Gold......

DJ Gold: "What's your favorite book?"

Me: That is a tough one because I love so many books I can't choose just one!  I guess right now it would have to be the mortal instruments series and the infernal devices series.

DJ Gold: "How much do you love books?"

Me: I  love them SO much. I couldn't imagine life with out them. They are my whole world and my entertainment.  I can't go some where with out a book or looking for new books.

DJ Gold: "Do you like school?"

Me: I don't like it but I don't hate it. I kind of just tolerate it, and try to get through the day. It helps that I share classes with so many funny/interesting kids, who aren't afraid to be them selves. They make class more interesting and less boring.

DJ Gold: " have you ever wanted to change the world?"

Me: Some times, but then I realize that if I did we wouldn't have what we have or the world would be in some weird alternate universe where things are even worst. So I just accept that the world is how the world is and leave it at that.

Thanks for the questions DJ Gold. I would love for you to come back some time.
If you want to ask a question, read the rules and post your question in the comments. Talk to you all later! -kaitlynn

Just a Little Update..

Even though I have had tons of time to be reading at school, but I haven't had much time at home for posting my reviews and stuff. This month has just turned into one big black hole and sucked up almost all of my spare time. But don't worry I have been reading Behemoth and I am almost half way through it! Yay! I should be done with it by the end of the weekend or beginning of next week. This all really relies on the rest of my week not going to the dogs. I will try to get it reviewed before Acadec week end. If not it will have to wait till after my choir competition. both just so happen to fall on the same week and happen to take up a lot of my spare time I would have loved to use. But on the bright side I can read on buses! Another up side is I get to pick up some metals! I really hope I get one or two. This is my first year so I wouldn't be depressed if I didn't get one because "THERE IS ALWAYS NEXT YEAR!". ( Quoting my french teacher. They also run the Acadec team. So glad they invited me this year. Also can't thank them enough!) back to the subject, So if I can't get Behemoth done in time I will try to find the next available time to post my review. I am always looking for new books to read and would love for you ( my fans) to send me book titles of books that you thought were really good, super good, or BLOW YOUR MIND awesome. I will try not to be completely bias when looking at the titles or reading what they are about. Also I am always on the look out for new music to put on my Ipod, last month I learned about the wonders of Les Miserables , thanks to my french class. (sorry I don't have the title correct, I am not as tech savvy as I seem.) And in December/November I learned about the wonders of an Electronic violinists named Lindsey Stirling, all thanks to the guys in my music class/acadec. This month (even though it is really short.) I would like to discover a new song, artist, genre, or CD. I am open for any suggestions. I will also try to post videos of some of my new findings. I will also try to post pictures on books I am currently reading. OR I will try to, it all really depends on how my time ends up getting divided. Well I need to get going, I really didn't eat lunch so I might go find some thing to eat. TALK TO YOU ALL LATER! -kaitlynn

Want to read!

Here are some books that are out or coming out that I would really like to read!

Title Here......

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted any thing yet. Don't worry I finished my surprise book but I don't have time to night to review it. For all of you who want a hint I will tell you that it is Non-fiction. It is my least favorite type of book but my Amma gave it to me and turns out I needed to read it for english. Sorry almost all the things I have posted so far are for my english class. Don't fret! My next book that I am currently reading is Behemoth by Scott Westerfeld. I wont be reviewing the fist book because well I don't own it. I get almost all the books I read from our local library. I go in there so much the librarians know my name and know when I am coming! But back to our topic, I should be done with the book by Thursday or Friday. Then I have two other books I got from the library. The first one I am going to read is The Friday Society by Adrienne Kress. And the other is just a bunch of short stories and seems like to much to review so I might just mention if it was good or not. Other than that I really don't have much else. I should tell you all that I won't be able to update this the last week of February because I am going to be really busy. I will be competing in Academic Decathlon, Picking up medals, (I already have one so far) Competing in a choir competition, and plan to take a small break after all of that. I am going to still be reading books,  I can't live with out my books! I really need to get going, talk to you all later! - Kaitlynn
